If there are a few scratches, those can be easily buffed out with the right methods by yourself (for me, basically 3M polishing papers, and Cape Cod polishing cloth, both of which cost a combined $10). As long as it's good condition, you're set. Buying pre-owned means someone else already took the hit. When anyone buys a watch, even if it's grey-market, the watch will take a hit in value the moment after they buy it. I've bought from both Amazon as well as Jomashop, but tbh am not a huge fan of them as much as I am of buying pre-owned from some of the other methods I've listed. Be aware that Amazon warranties on watches are different from factory warranties (and this applies to Jomashop as well). Only exception is if you're buying a really high-end watch like a Rolex, JLC, or anything above that, in which case I'd recommend an AD if you can't find pre-owned (I have a Rolex myself but bought it pre-owned via r/watchexchange).Īmazon is meh on pricing unless you're buying a cheap watch. I've never really used an AD, and AD's generally have higher prices than the methods I've listed above. Chrono24 is a pretty famous one but ive found generally that i can find better prices using the other 4 methods I've listed than Chrono24. I've used (which is basically watchuseek), ebay, (Japanese auction market, you can sometimes find some really nice deals here just be careful to thoroughly inspect each piece for authenticity, box/papers etc.), and r/watchexchange successfully for buying and selling watches. /r/WatchExchange for buying, selling, trading watchesīanner photo courtesy of /u/northscylla Please take a look at our community rules and FAQ before contributing!./r/WatchHorology our sister subreddit for horology, watch appreciation, history, technical discussion and related topics.
